Waiting for the Call is the UK´s original all-female long-form musical improv team. It was formed in 2012 by self-confessed improv nerd Sarah Spencer who wanted to fill the gap in the market for American style spontaneous musical improvisation.
Sarah and WFTC have trained extensively with American long-form improvised musical superstars Baby Wants Candy, UCB, iO, The Groundlings and Second City, have been mentored by short form maestro and founder member of the Comedy Store Players, Neil Mullarkey and regularly work with and share Musical Directors with UK musical improvisation experts The Showstoppers.

In 2015 Sarah and Pernilla Holland, Creative Director and Cast Member, developed the hit show Notflix, which has proven to be a highly popular and well-recognised brand. WFTC was Company in Residence at The Proud Archivist, Shoreditch and have had huge success with Notflix at venues across London, including The Leicester Square Theatre, The Kings Head, The Vaults, The Miller, The Hen & Chickens, The Etcetera, and nationwide at Bristol Improv Theatre, Women in COmedy Festival Manchester, Komedia Brighton and Gilded Balloon for Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

WFTC have had many huge successes in the past two years; performing for members at The Union Club and Home House, featured in The Times, awarded ´Highly Commended´ at VAULT Festival 2017, WHATSONSTAGE´s Pick of VAULT Festival 2017, Evening Standard´s Highlight of VAULT Festival 2017, part of UN Women UK´s ArtsWeek for #HeForShe, nominated for 2016 Eddies Award, Edinburgh Reporter Pick of Edinburgh Fringe 2016, Marie Claire´s Pick of the Fringe 2016, Sunday Times comedy pick of Edinburgh Fringe 2015, Elle Magazine UK comedy choice of Edinburgh Fringe 2015, Semi-finalists in both the Funny Women Awards 2015 and the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2015 competitions and nominated for the Musical Comedy Awards 2015 and for a second year, the Funny Women Awards 2016.

Notflix had a completely sold-out run at Gilded Balloon for Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016 and have sold out at Leicester Square Theatre, VAULT Festival, Komedia Brighton, all in the past year. They will be back at Gilded Balloon for Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year to attempt it all again!

Sarah and Pernilla are also the creators of the Tiny Women Brains feminist comedy festival which premiered at The Proud Archivist in late January 2016. The Tiny Women Brains festival was created to celebrate female talent within the comedy industry, with a number of high profile performers and special guests lending their talents to provide workshops, Q&As and performances, playing to sold out audiences.
