Russ is a comedian, writer, voiceover artist and TV Producer.

He started gigging regularly in 2013 and after only 20 gigs made the final of the prestigious So You Think You´re Funny competition. Later that year he was a finalist in the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of The Year competition and in early 2014 was runner up in the Bath Comedy Festival New Act of the Year. Russ ended 2014 as Winner of the Fosters Golden Jester.

In 2015 Russ made it to the final of the BBC New Comedy Award; broadcast live to an audience of more than 7 million on BBC Radio 2 from the Comedy Store in London.

With a TV career spanning more than 15 years Russ has worked as a Producer across a wide range of programming for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five.

He´s also branching out into Voiceover work

With a Drama degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism Russ became a Radio Newsreader before his love of cars helped secure him his dream first job in television on BBC´s Top Gear.

Russ performed his first solo show “Russ Peers: Bad Gay?“ with Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 and appeared on BBC Radio 4 Extra in a best of the Fringe show. Russ was one of Gay Times magazine´s ´Essential Edinburgh Fringe Shows´ as well as being chosen by Jessica Fostekew of Radio 4 Extra´s Comedy Club, as one of her picks of the Fringe. Jessica said of Russ, “I think he´s just one of those people who´s born with it“.

He´s gigged around the country from The Stand in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Comic Boom and Bent Double at Komedia in Brighton to the Comedy Store in Manchester and Up The Creek, The Hob and Angel Comedy in London.

He even got a mention on the Comedian´s Comedian Podcast in May 2015.

His laid-back, anecdotal style takes in all these aspects of his life and more and has had audiences big and small rolling in the aisles.

He´s also developing a sitcom with a writing partner based on their lives in their hometown of Barrow in Furness.

Russ was a regular panellist on London Live´s Not The One Show until the programme was cruelly replaced with one that didn´t require the services of a chunky Northerner.

As well as being a comedian Russ used to be a highly talented checkout operator.
