Briony Redman
Briony is a writer and performer. As a writer she was shortlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe Comedy Script 2016, has written additional material for BBC Radio 4, was shortlisted for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forum at the NYTV Festival 2012 and the Red Planet Picture Prize 2010. Briony’s wrote and starred in short film, Forget-Me-Not that has screened internationally at festivals including Palm Springs Shortsfest 2014 and Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2014 (nominated for Best Comedy). Briony writes regularly with writer-director Kate Herron (Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2016). They are working on feature film, horror-comedy Miss Universe, having developed it to the final round on the Film London’s Microwave with the BFI and BBC Films and have done a rewrite on a crime-comedy script for Eric Dupont (Oscar-nominated Ave Maria) and Richard Jackson (Talisman Man Films, The Woman in Black). Their new short, SMEAR, starring comedians Sophia Di Martino (Flowers) and Nick Mohammed (Mr Swallow) is screening at the BFI London Film Festival 2017. Briony is presently developing a comedy series with Tom Davis’ company, Shiny Button (Murder in Successville).
Briony has taken a number of comedy shows up to the Edinburgh fringe festival including solo shows at The Pleasance Theory of Positivity, 2017 and Secret Show, 2016 (“Effortlessy feel-good” The Skinny) and comic play Farce Noir: The Big Sheep at Underbelly 2013 (“the script is positively soaked in wordplay” Fest). With Paul Foxcroft she performs as double-act Surname & Surname (“An articulate sense of mischief” The Times) and regularly performs with renowned improv company The Free Association (“The UK has an equivalent to the professionalised improv of Chicago’s Second City or Upright Citizens Brigade, the FA are it” Fest Mag).
Briony performs at sketch and improvised comedy nights in London. She regularly improvises with The Free Association. She has an upcoming solo show, Sketch Artist, at the Pleasance Courtyard EdFringe 2018.
