Al Porter

At twenty-one, Tallaght´s Al Porter is one of Ireland’s most promising comedians.
He regularly headlines at Ireland’s top clubs, including The Laughter Lounge, The International, and The Empire (Belfast). He also runs a popular Monday night club, ´The Comedy Shed´, sponsored by Fosters (in the Woolshed Baa & grill).
In 2014 Al has been a regular on radio (2fm with Colm Hayes) and appeared on television as a guest on TV3’s Late Lunch, a regular panelist on RTE´s Next Weeks News with Neil Delamere & PJ Gallagher, RTE´s Republic of Telly and as Mick the Bull´s son on RTE´s Savage Eye. In 2012 he made his television debut as a finalist in the RTE Two New Comedy Awards series. Christmas 2013, Al was on RTE2’s year in review show, Totes Amazeballs 2013, and sketches for RTE’s Callan’s New Years Kicks.
In January 2014 he was named as one of the Irish Independent´s 14 names from Ireland to watch in 2014, saying

The past two years Al has appeared at Vodafone Comedy Festival, Sky Cat Laughs, Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, Dublin Shakespeare Festival, Belfast & Dundalk Gay Pride Festivals. He has performed in Vicar Street for the Temple Street Hospital Fundraiser (2013, 2014) and for the Comedy Cellar Anniversay gig with Eddie Izzard, Dara O Briain & Tommy Tiernan.
Al has performed in the Olympia Theatre many times. Most notably he is the resident panto Dame – a staple of Irish family entertainment . Christmas 2014 will be his 10th panto season there. Al is a vocal supporter of the Irish Therapy Dogs. He has performed at Bealtaine festival for the elderly, appeared on Joe Duffy’s Funny Friday and is a regular guest judge for Charity Strictly Dancing nights in the ballrooms of hotels such as Powerscourt Hotel & City West Hotel.
