Artist description:Tamar Broadbent is a comedian, writer, singer, actor and award-winning songwriter, who studied English at Bristol University and went on to train at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Best known for her funny, catchy story songs about single life in your twenties, Tamar has toured her solo musical comedy shows around the UK, including the Edinburgh festival, and internationally to Europe and Australia. She was nominated for Best Comedy Show at Perth Fringeworld 2017 with her new show Get Ugly, which is on at the Underbelly, Edinburgh fringe, this August. Get tickets here. Tamar was a finalist in the 2015 Amused Moose Laugh Off and Funny Women Awards, and appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Fresh From the Fringe 2014. She performs regularly on the UK comedy circuit, and her recent gigs include: Glee, Screaming Blue Murder, Off the Rails, Comedy Cow and CKP Boat Show. A big fan of Tina Fey and Holly Mandel, Tamar began improvising in 2015 and is now a member of long-form, UCB-style improvised comedy house team My Brother, Jose at the popular Free Association in London. In 2014, Tamar won the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Award, the most prestigious competition in the UK for new musical theatre songwriters. She has two musicals in development, including Club Mexicano, co-written with John Victor and due to tour in the Autumn. Tamar has also co-written a play, Split, with Emma Pritchard, which enjoyed a successful run at the Brighton Fringe and is coming back to London soon.
